The Power of Burning Desire

“Give me a man of just average ability, but with a deep down burning desire to succeed and I will give you a winner every single time.”

                                  – John Paul Getty

“The size of your success is measured by the strength of your desire.”

                                   - Robert Kiyosaki.

“Your feet will bring you to where your heart is.”

                                   - Irish Proverb.

“Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything,” said Napoleon Hill. Just as everything in life that grows is the result of a seed, the same is true for your desires. Yes, desire is the seed for all great success. Of course, all great accomplishment begins with an idea, but what turns that idea into reality is the pulsating desire to win. Desire is the number one attitude that you need for success. It is the starting point of each and every great achievement. But, at the same time, that desire should not be just a wish. You should turn it into a burning desire in order to reach your goal.

There is big difference between a desire and a burning desire. If you wish with eyes, it is just a desire. But when you wish with heart, it becomes a burning desire. Mere desire may give you a temporary feeling of inspiration but what motivates you, keeps you going when the going gets tough and enables you to persist until you reach your goal is nothing but a deep constant longing for success – burning desire. Yes, burning desire is such a powerful drive that always induces you to move towards your goal. In other words, it is a passion so deep that nothing can stop you from reaching your goal. Napoleon Hill has rightly said, “When desires are strong enough, you will appear to posses superhuman powers to achieve.”

Having a burning desire to win is the important strategy that the winners always follow. History chronicles the inspiring examples of people like Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Thomas Alva Edison, Helen Keller, and many other who had a lasting desire to win. To be a winner in any field, you should have a deep desire to win. A burning desire with intense belief and everlasting persistence and expressed through action can create miracles. “You can have anything you want if you want it badly enough. You can be anything you want to be, do anything you set out to accomplish if you hold to that desire with singleness of purpose”, said Abraham Lincoln.

Think about your goal for a while. Are you fully committed to reach your goal? Are you ready, by all means, to pay the price that your goal needs? Do you have that dynamic drive to achieve your goal in you? If your answer is “No”, the first thing you must do is to cultivate such a burning desire to win. When you cultivate such a powerful burning desire, you can achieve anything in your personal, professional and business life.
